We also have internship possibilities being located in a second largest city in New York state provides a plethora of internships throughout this screen right now. Actually lists some of the places that our students have been turned in the past. This may come as a total shock to you, but as an undergraduate student, I did an internship in my undergraduate admissions office and I found that working with college students in perspective students is what I wanted to do with the rest of my life. Internships will set that up sometimes they're paid, sometimes there for credit, sometimes they're just learning experiences an.
All of those are regularly supported by our faculty and staff. We have an outstanding honors program at Buffalo state. Consideration for the honors program starts at a 90 overall average and a 1070 on the SA team or a 21 on the AC T.
The curriculum includes about 8 courses spread out throughout the colleges, most double as both an honors course required course as well as a general education course. Now Buffalo state general education is called the intellectual foundations and this is an opportunity for students to become more well rounded. We have the oldest GOP program, Al Suni, and we have a very robust program in EOPEOP is for students who have the talent and ability to succeed in college, but academically they may fall a little bit. Below are general admissions guidelines. By and large, these students have to meet two criteria. They need to be both academically disadvantage and also financially disadvantaged based on certain criteria's laid out by the state in the student would typically fall below our general admit guidelines, but then by and large those students do significantly better than many of our current students.
Because of the extra counseling and tutoring support services that are available to those students.

These locations are subject to change as we workout different agreements, but it gives students the opportunity to get off campus and go other places In addition to.
Eating on campus at all the time.
Student life, obviously students.
On average, will take 5 classes per semester. Each class will meet for three hours per week or be a three credit course. Those 15 hours is. It leaves a lot of other time. What else are you going to do? What else are you going to put on your resume? That's going to fill up the rest of those lines before? Besides that 4.0 GPA that you receive, ultimately the activities, the organizations, the involvement you have outside can really craft the direction that you go, and may even end up helping you find that first job or that next job. So student life is a robust part.
Of the campus United students government funds through their student activity fee. Outstanding performances, movie nights. An activities throughout the year. But there's academic clubs associated with most majors or closely ability with most majors. There's Greek life less than 3% of our campus participate, but it is an option for you. It's not going to make or break you socially, but it is an option for you.

We also have Inter murals which is building against building floor against floor opportunity for students to get some exercise and get out.
Out of the residence halls, in out and about a little bit about why someone might choose Buffalo Buffalo is certainly a city on the rise. I think that in the 15 years that I've been back in Buffalo, it's been amazing to watch the transformation. We truly have all Four Seasons here. We have outstanding facilities. We have a little over 260,000 people in the second largest city in New York state. We have outstanding food. We have outstanding architecture and amazing park system. Fine and performing arts music as well. We have the original terminus of the Erie Canal.
Toronto is 90 miles away. Niagara Falls is 20 minutes away. The revitalization of Buffalo has been just absolutely outstanding, and as a student at Buffalo State, it's very easy to get around that city. You have what's known as the NFTA student pass, which is the FDA cram or college writers accessing Metro Pass. This allows you to ride the subway system and the bus system in the city of Buffalo. Out and about the campus. Also contracts with the circulator system that will take you around to tops and Wegmans.
And the local supermarkets in the parking lots around campus as well so that you can hop on and hop off, and that's available from 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM Monday through Thursday and Friday eight to four. While school is in session. They also have a motorist assist program that's iaccessible as well to help students.
The academic profile of a student Buffalo State is what you see on the screen now. These are the numbers for fall 2019. We felt we ended up just short of 17,000 total applications for just about 2500. First year incoming student spaces. In terms of the GPA, someone would achieve as a first year general student.
And 85 average or higher makes someone clearly admissible for Buffalo state. We look for a good college prep curriculum, which is 4 years of English and social studies. Three years math and science in a foreign language. We also use your three year average and the highest of your essay TRACT. So if you've taken it more than once, we can super score the highest evidence based reading and writing with the highest math or even asked Subscores we can super score as well the average student first year 85 average or higher 1010.
On the city with the 20 ECT we take the seriousness of the three year average very highly. If you have an 85 average for all three years, regardless of your test scores, you will be admissible to Buffalo State. You still need to submit test scores, but with that 85 or higher you would be admissible to Buffalo state in terms of the Honors Program, the average student has a 90 three overall average essay Tiava 1210 and a see T of a 25 EP. As I said, falls a little bit below our general admissions guidelines. Those average students have an 80.
At 9:30 and a 17 in the AC T now these are the average, which means that there are still students below all of these scores, so it's important to not really yourself out if you don't fit one of these profiles and say, Oh, I can't get in, please submit an application. Let us work with you to see what we can do. Oftentimes, a senior year will come into the equation as well. We do accept almost as many and enroll almost as many transfer students over the course of the year as we do first year students when we include fall, spring, and summer are transfer student. Average GPA is a 2.94.
Some majors require 3.0 or higher GPA and all of that information is available online. We also offer online virtual information sessions as this one, but we also offer individual appointments which you'll start seeing starting on our website very shortly.
Having heard all the great stuff about Buffalo State, you may have some questions specifically about how does one apply. We accept two applications for first year students. That's the Sunni application and the common application an we accept just the Sunni application for transfer students for first year students. You need to submit a high school transcript and S80 or AC T scores and then we will request supplemental information if we need it for an LP first year student. Once again, high school transcript S ATR AC T scores. You do need to submit two letters or recommendation your ERP autobiographical essay.
There is a financial information form. As I say, dop is also financial requirement to it, so you need to submit that In addition to your income verification and putting 2018 is not a mistake. The way faster works the way tap works and will explain that in the next slide requires the prior prior verification in terms of transfer students we require college transcripts from all of your previous institutions. We calculate accumulative GPA of all of your previous schools. You can exclude to school if you didn't do well.
When we look at the keynote, if your name goes out to a national database, it reports back to us. If you been enrolled in any school or college and we need those transcripts, we do need a final high school transcript verifying graduation. If there's been any gap in your education since you graduated high school, we would like a brief paragraph or two explaining exactly what that was and how that broke down. If you had previously Benny Opie, you may be eligible for ERP here at Buffalo state and we would ask for proof of that. Previous GOP financially is certainly on many people's minds.
And I think it's important for you to understand that there's a variety of ways to apply, but we really you should avail yourself to all of those. Financial aid is a separate office from the undergrad admissions office. We are need blind in our admission. What that means is that we make an emissions decision based on students admissibility, regardless of whether or not they can afford to pay the financial aid office tries to bridge the gap between what the federal government feels is the expected family contribution and what remains to the total cost at Buffalo State. We asked the students, fill out the fast food, which is the free application for federal student name.
It becomes available in October of the year before you enroll in college and then also fill out that application which is the tuition assistance program through the nearest state. Higher education services Corp are actual fast for code intact coder on the website said that you have that and you also get this PowerPoint later on. Once again, as we continue on, many students have chat questions. You can certainly avail yourself of the chat on the left. We also participate in the Excelsior Scholarship program. The Excelsiors program is assuming program that was announced by the governor several years ago.
In Excelsior covers the full cost of tuition. This is a tuition only scholarship. It's also a last dollar scholarships, with the student qualifies for any other financial aid that would be deducted first before the Excelsior comes into play. But it can cover the whole cost up to the 7070 of tuition for student that is eligible. The current criteria is 120. Five $1000 or less adjusted gross income that is the current criteria. The governor's budget does have some proposals to possibly modify that but for now.
Excelsior is an adjusted gross income of 120. Five, $1000 or less. You would receive an award package shortly after you've been accepted. You need to submit any additional documents in case they want verification of certain numbers. You might have to submit that and then you need to review and compare your offers and accept your aid and get it into US.
And respond back to Buffalo state once you've deposited and you would be informed to log in and accept it through banner student system. The overall costs and this is per year. I think this is important to understand when people look at both private and public, you're going to see the value of a public education. Tuition for a full year is 7070 and that's both fall and spring semester. These are $1400. This includes your transportation failure, technology fee, your athletic feed, your student Association fee and you're healthy.
I may have covered that already, but ultimately all of those are broken down for you, and that is part of the overall cost of Buffalo State. So the subtotal is just below $8500 for a double room in a full meal plan that brings the cost up to 23.
$1000 you can see the cost differential for an out of state student and this is really where the state of New York contributes about 1/3 of the total cost of going to Buffalo State is covered by the state. There is a scholarship opportunities that are available. We always recommend that you avail yourself of anything available in your community, parent, Guardian employers and also through your school counselors. They typically will have a list on their website of different scholarships that you may or may not be eligible for. We do have a Capps Portal which allows students to.
Specifically, choose and enter their interest in who they are an it's a centralized database for the scholarships that Buffalo State offers. The scholarships that are merit based that are offered primarily through the admissions office include the presidential Provost and the honor scholarship. In addition to the transfer scholarship, the transfer scholarship is a one time scholarship of $500 for the first year. It's a 3.5 GPA or higher in a minimum 57 credits. All of the other three scholarships require a 90 overall average.
And then the SAT requirements for each of them variant. The presidential scholarship requires a 1270 on the essay tea or a 26 AC T that's $2500 per year for all four years, and the Provost Scholarship is $2000 a year for four years. And that requires an 1170 or higher on the essay tea, or a 2425 on the AC T. The honor scholarship is to a limited number. I mentioned, the honors program starts at a 90 overall average in a 1070. A limited number of those students will also be invited.
To the honors scholarship, or offered the honor scholarship, which is an additional $2500, which is typically stackable on top of the presidential scholarship, so a student could potentially receive up to $5000.
We are quickly ending our time here, so I want to go over with some dates to remember we have expanded our tuition deadline for students because of the ongoing situation up until June 1st. You also should submit your housing deposit deadline that is a recommended deadline. Housing is done on a first come, first serve basis based on the date that you submit your housing deposit. August 31st will be your first day of the fall semester so we are anxiously awaiting the return of students. Our hope is that this summer will be open again for two hours, so if you want to see an impersonal opportunity that you can avail yourself of that.
October 17th this fall will be our fall open house number one in November 14th will be our 2nd fall open house. For those of you who are Juniors who are just starting to look at this process.
I want to thank you for taking some time in listening to me today again, my name is Dean Reinhardt. I am the associate director of admissions. My name is Dean. I'm not the Dean.
